GEORGIA and her DAYS IN TOPEKA
2004-2009
Later in years, since none of her kids lived here, they suggested she move to Topeka, but she insisted she had her friends and activities here and was perfectly happy. At the age of 90, with reservation, she agreed to “just come stay for the winter” in Topeka, at which point her stay was extended allowing her family to finally take care of her. That part was easier than the “giving up the car”. She loved to go and went somewhere everyday.

Georgia's days in Topeka were sort of a mixed blessing for the Moran family. We knew we would miss our dear lady very much but at the same time were relieved and grateful she was getting such special care in her elderly years. We knew we never had to worry about her and how she was being cared for. She couldn't have asked for a better family. On the few visits that we took mom and dad (Jack and Dottie Moran) down to see Georgia, they alway made the comment how wonderful she looked and was very glad to see her. I'd tell mom and dad it was time I had to go see Georgia and they'd say.." Let's Go" They missed her. They had been friends for so many years. Over the years I was rather shy and very warry about imposing too much on Georgia's family, but just really needed to have my Georgia time. Susie and Karl were alway plesant and inviting anytime I called. They treated us like part of the family that was very welcome in their home and I will always be eternally grateful for that.
